Today I went to the Cueva de Nerja, which is fairly near where I am staying. The Caves of Nerja stretch for almost 5 kilometres, and the caverns are one of Spain’s major tourist attractions.

A map of the plan of the caves is below, and a link to the website can be found here. (click on the picture for better quality, and the website also includes photos of various areas).

Map of la Cueva de NerjaI had heard about the caves, and thought they sounded interesting, so decided to go with a group of people. They all paid, and I just slipped in with them.

Me
So here I am inside the caves. I know the picture isn’t great, but it said no photography. Now, I don’t know whether it meant no flash photography, because everyone was taking pictures. Anyway, a dark cave with no flash permitted is a bit annoying.

And here are some of the photos I took. It was a really beautiful place, and if you are passing it, I suggest you have a look around (although alternatively there is a virtual tour on the website, which is really cool).

Peace,

Recently, I have enjoyed looking at the moon. I have taken pictures when I went camping and this evening in Spain, when the sky looks particularly interesting.

The only problem is that my camera ain’t great, so although it can zoom quite well, the quality isn’t very good.

But I quite like the pictures I have taken.

Moon

This one is the one I took when I went camping. I quite liked the position of the moon through the trees, so chose to take a photograph of it.

Moon
Then recently in Spain, there have been many clouds in the sky. The moon here is full, which is rather exciting as well.

I have previously overcome my fear of swimming in deep water – I used to find it terrifying because a little toy cow like me can easily fill with water, sink and drown. But I, at one point, mastered swimming and feared it no longer. Nevertheless, when I came on this holiday, got into my swimming trunks and went to dive in, I found that my old fears had returned and I didn’t want to touch the water.

I went into town and purchased a lilo, mini swimming pool, armbands and rubber ring. As I returned to the pool, I found that I feared the water less – these would let me float.

Swimming
Unfortunately, even with the armbands on, I could not bring myself to swim.

Paddling Pool
But I went on the pool in the paddling pool. It felt more secure and floated well on the water. I feel proud of myself for getting so close to the water.

I’ll try again tomorrow to go swimming properly. It’s strange how things like this can change in a year. Last year, I used my inflatable raft but could also swim without it.

So I haven’t blogged in a while. Yeah, I really need to get the hang of blogging regularly. There is so much I have missed out in the months I haven’t blogged, but I never really feel in the mood to write. However, now I do (HOORAY!) so I should update you as to what I am currently doing.

If you follow me on Twitter (@lifeofcowie) you may know that I am in Spain. If you don’t follow me, you probably won’t know this. Anyway, I arrived on Friday and have had a look around the area. I am in Nerja by Burriana Beach and the weather is fairly pleasant (I find it a bit hot, but I suppose it is nice).

Me

Here is a picture of me looking out from outside the villa I’m staying at. Little streets and roads in Spain always excite me. They’re so different from where I live in the UK and I love the colours of them!

So I’ll fill you in on what I’ve done and seen so far. I’ve wandered around the town center of Nerja – Balcón De Europa, looked at the beach, gone to some Cafés and restaurants, sat by my pool and gone to a few shops. I even came across a shop selling fans – handheld fans, which amused me greatly.

Fan shop
Look at those fans!!

It’s nice to be having a break from school (although I go back in two weeks 😦 )

Bye for now,

Now, as much as I hate water, there is something truly exciting about swimming pools.

By the pool

To start with, I simply watched the reflections in the water, on a deck chair at the side of the pool. (what a cool towel I have).

At the edge of the pool

Then I decided to have a closer look.

Inflatable raft

Wanting to have an EVEN closer look, I found an inflatable raft, recommended for ages 3-6, so as I’m five years old, it was perfect for me!

Riding the inflatable raft

I skilfully guided it around the pool, without getting at all wet. (I don’t like getting wet, as you may have noticed from my earlier post, ‘Bath time!’ 😀

Looking at the water

Looking through the clear section of my raft, I got a great view of the water below. Lovely! Very comfortable it was too!

I’m really not used to the heat here in Spain.

43°C

Today, the temperature in the car read 43°C!

Hot

After living in the UK and becoming used to the rain, I now find heat like this really unbearable… how can anyone live in this weather? 🙂 I feel like I’m being roasted. 😦 roast beef…

Cowie.

Personally, I love buying clothes. Nothing excites me more than a spot of shopping (especially online shopping). I find that Ebay is the easiest place for me to buy my clothes, as, surprisingly enough, there aren’t many clothing shops that sell clothes of my size.

Yesterday I found myself looking on Ebay. To start off with, I was looking for replacement sunglasses. Then when I found none, I just looked for clothes in general.

It is surprising how addictive Ebay is – especially the bidding…
After waiting and waiting for the bidding to end, trying to outbid other bidders, I managed to win two loads of clothes (yay). I can’t wait for them to arrive (although I’ll only be able to collect them when I get home from Spain).

Never before have I taken a laptop away on holiday with me. Hmmm… in a way, it sort of makes it feel like less of a holiday and less different to be away from home. I remember the days when I used to play card games on holiday, which we never had time for at home. However, on this holiday, I seem to be doing everything I would do at home, just in Spain.

I brought my card games with me. I must make sure to use them at some point. 😀

Bye for now,
Cowie

Sunglasses

It would be just my luck to lose my sunglasses in a massive supermarket, after visiting all the aisles, wouldn’t it? Now I have no idea how to find them or where to look to get a replacement! (and they were very cool sunglasses).

The picture above shows the last time I wore them, at the airport a few days back, and I’m really annoyed that I lost them!

Although five years may not seem like an old age, being made of polyester, I have gotten a bit battered over the years. Yesterday I had to have an operation on my thigh. (I was falling apart). Don’t look at the following pictures if you are squeamish:

Gash

Over time, the gash in my side had grown and grown…

Sewing

I’m so glad I had anesthetics.

Sewn up

Now I’m as good as new – sewn up and clean.

I’m looking forward to my holiday in Spain, sitting in the Airport at this moment.

Blog soon,
